Flying Kiwi Angels have just completed their due diligence on Moxion. LPs have voted unanimously to make this our 10th portfolio company. Moxion is a game changer for film and TV production cutting the delivery time of on-set footage aka dailies from 24 hours to under 2 minutes.
What sold me on Moxion was its capability to share video assist footage between units within 90 seconds of recording a take. Moxion enabled us to instantly confirm continuity and secure director approval notes utilising a secure service in the cloud.

Recommendation
We, the DD Team recommend that Flying Kiwi Angels vote to invest in Moxion. This funding round will provide the co-founder and CEO Hugh Calveley and his team with the necessary resources to substantially grow their business which has already been well received in international film production circles.
Moxion has a product that is proven with a very strong value proposition. With additional scale it is highly likely to become an acquisition target in an industry that is changing due to product integration and consolidation.

Executive Summary
Moxion reduces the turnaround of dailies from 24 hours to virtually real time. This enables crucial decisions to be made that mean big savings, especially as the concurrent filming in locations around the globe is becoming more widespread. At the same time more and more new entertainment content for cinema theatres, TV and online streaming is needed.
All this has driven up the demand for post-production which includes special effects. In the last 10 years New Zealand has become a name in the film industry, helped by the digitalisation and internationalisation of film production which continues to drive change in the industry coming from startups offering new products and services, increased competition and M&A activity.
Over the last 36 months Moxion has played a crucial part in the post-production workflow of 30 film productions including for example the successful television series Ash v Evil Dead for the US premium cable and satellite television network Starz and Warner’s MEG with director Jon Turteltaub, on a $100M+ blockbuster  budget for release in 2018.
Moxion has already secured an exclusive partnership with European Cinetique, makers of QTAKE, the on-set camera tools that are used on 80% of on-set cameras. The seamless integration provides rapid distribution of footage with full metadata. Further agreements are likely to result from the NAB trade show that CEO Hugh attended in Las Vegas during April.
